In recognition of Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week (16-22 September), Global Heart Hub is delighted to partner with Heart Valve Voice Canada for this patient-centred webinar on shared decision-making for heart valve disease. We are pleased to feature a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss the importance of shared decision-making to improve patient outcomes.
We’re delighted to have on the webinar two patient advocates: Cole Moro, a valve patient and physician assistant, and Bill Power, a valve patient. They will break down what shared decision-making means, share their personal stories and offer valuable tips on how patients can collaborate with their clinicians on their care plans.
The webinar will feature Ellen Ross, Managing Director of Heart Valve Voice Canada, and Dr Krystina Lewis, a researcher with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. They will introduce the concept of shared decision-making, explaining its importance and practical application.
We will also hear from Dr Talal Al-Atassi, a cardiac surgeon at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and Cindi Wheeler, a nurse practitioner for the TAVI programme at Sunnybrook Hospital. They will offer insights from a clinician’s perspective on how to effectively engage in shared decision-making and the resources and support patients need to engage in treatment decisions.
Join us for this informative session to learn how shared decision-making can enhance your healthcare journey and improve outcomes for heart valve disease patients.
